Want to warm up your contemporary decor? The walls are once again adorned with textured, massive or personalized moldings. Distributing hundreds of moldings and woodwork for all styles, Distribution 2020, a division of Richelieu, offers different ways to integrate them into your decoration.
Take inspiration from the farm house trend
Do you fall for the farm house trend? You are not alone. This style combining country and contemporary is definitely popular in decoration. Even that several new residences are built following this current.
More than ever, the house is a refuge, a haven of peace and well-being. The choice of soothing colors, such as creamy whites and luminous beiges, and the addition of textured decorative elements, such as woodwork and moldings, contribute to this feeling of well-being. “It's really the return of textured and decorative moldings. Painted in tone on tone, they give chic and presence to a room,” says general manager Anne Michaud.
Following this trend, wooden moldings are ideal for infusing a warm dose into the home. “To ensure that your wood moldings remain beautiful for years, we recommend applying a matte, satin or gloss varnish, depending on the desired effect,” advises Ms. Michaud.
Placed on the wall or ceiling, decorative moldings create a unique and original visual effect.
Dress the walls with (false) paneling
Nerdy, the paneling? No way! The one who has started his return to decoration is becoming more trendy than ever. Paneling has been used in our interiors for several years, but the one placed vertically, half-wall, has captured our attention more this year. In addition to producing a height effect, it adds relief to our walls and can also become the focal point of a room.
It's easy to create a faux wainscot wall using planks that slot into each other (like a driftwood floor!), which are available in different widths and thicknesses at Distribution 2020. arise in a jiffy! Bringing softness to a child's room or texture to an office, this faux paneling is a practical and stylish choice.
These tongue-and-groove boards perfectly imitate the effect of panelling.
Customize your decor
Decorative moldings break the monotony, give rhythm and movement to the decor. Dress and personalize your walls with style and innovation by applying a composition of geometric shapes made from moldings or woodwork, such as herringbone, hexagonal or triangular shapes.
Another idea is to create faux picture frames yourself from moldings painted in bright or contrasting colors. “MDF moldings are perfect for this kind of project. They are easy to carve and paint to your liking. We have a large selection of styles and models in store,” adds Ms. Michaud.
Placed on the wall or ceiling, decorative moldings create a unique and original visual effect.
Add relief to the ceiling
What could be more banal than a white ceiling! Add dimension to it with faux boxes!
Making boxes using moldings and woodwork has a clear advantage: that of adding recessed lights and hiding all the wiring without going through the ceiling.
Made of high quality engineered wood while resembling real solid wood beams, Distribution 2020's faux beams are practical and distinguished. The little extra: the last component is reversible and can be placed on either side giving two completely different aesthetic presentations.
It is also tempting to add ornaments to the ceiling, around a light fixture or to highlight an area or create relief. In store, you can find moldings in the shape of flowers, carved wood ornaments and wooden corbels that support decorative shelves.

Cover a column
Moldings are also used to camouflage a column or a beam; to hide a broken wall corner or an imprecise joint.
We all have a steel column in the basement, which sits in the center of the room and which we want to cover in an elegant way. The experts at Distribution 2020 have a simple and economical solution for this, with the help of wood moldings that are already ready to be installed.
Did you know? Thanks to its special custom manufacturing department, Distribution 2020 can also perfectly recreate your existing moldings, in order to renovate or complete your decor.
