Finishing Epoxy - Crystalopoxy
CRYSTALOPOXY is an epoxy coating perfectly suited for all projects: cabinetmaking, residential, institutional, industrial and commercial concrete floors. CRYSTALOPOXY stands out for its strength, its high resistance to yellowing, its ease of application and its transparent and glossy finish. CRYSTALOPOXY can be used as both a base coat and a finish. Considered one of the most crystalline epoxy products on the market, it will be ideal for finishing wood and as a finishing coat on our Resinopoxy+.
Two-component epoxy system reinforced with an anti-yellowing UV protector;
- Contains 100% solids;
- VOC free;
- Without solvents;
- Excellent abrasion resistance;
- Superior mechanical and chemical resistance properties;
- Slow setting time (45 minutes), which facilitates application;
- Offers a very high density, which increases stain resistance and facilitates maintenance.
Preparation :
On wood: Make sure the wood is clean, dry and well sanded to create an anchor profile. It is important to pre-seal with a thin layer of epoxy or varnish sealer, more porous surfaces such as fields with bark and cavities that are likely to let air escape, which could cause bubbles. On a stain : If the product is applied to a non-sealing stain such as Tandem-1, ensure that the curing (drying) time is completed to 100%. On concrete: The concrete must be clean, dry and without any trace of grease, oil, paint, curing agent or any contaminant that could harm the adhesion of the product. If the application is on new concrete, a curing time of at least 28 days is necessary before applying the product. Resurfacing using a mechanical concrete polisher remains the best preparation. However, you can prepare the surface with sandblasting in most residential projects. Sand the surface using 60-grit paper. You must completely remove all layers of paint. On an old Epoxy: If the product is applied to an epoxy system that has been installed for more than 24 hours, the surface must first be sanded with a 60-grit abrasive, and cleaned properly with a vacuum cleaner before application. This preparation is necessary to ensure adequate adhesion. Perform appropriate adhesion tests if there is any doubt about surface preparation.
Blend :
Important to calculate the mixture by volume (mL) and not by weight.
Before final mixing, it is recommended to thoroughly mix parts A and B of the product individually at low speed. Particular attention should be paid to colored versions of the product since the pigments may have separated from the remainder of the formulation during storage. The mixture should be completed until a uniform color is obtained. Next, mix the two Part A containers with the Part B container with a mixer on the end of a low speed drill (300-450 rpm) in a clean container. Be sure to use clean equipment so as not to contaminate the product. Mix slowly and thoroughly for three minutes to minimize air entrapment in the product. Be sure to scrape the sides all the way to the bottom of the mixing container. For small projects, be sure to mix only the amount of product needed. Once the product is mixed, you have 45 minutes of working time.
Application :
Before applying CRYSTALOPOXY, ensure that the air and surface temperature is between 10-30 o C and the humidity level does not exceed 85%. Pour the product directly onto the surface in lines. Then spread the product using a squeegee then roll with an epoxy roller 13 mm in both directions, parallel and perpendicular, in order to standardize the surface. CRYSTALOPOXY can be used both as a base coat (example: directly on concrete) and as a finishing coat. We recommend the application of a base coat and a top coat for a total thickness of approximately 20 mils. On very porous surfaces, a 4-6 mil thick primer coat is recommended before using CRYSTALOPOXY.
Cleaning tools:
Hardened material can be disposed of without restriction. Excess liquid from Parts A and B must be mixed to allow hardening and disposal in accordance with applicable provincial and federal regulations. Any uncured liquid can be cleaned using citrus solvent, alcohol or another solvent following the manufacturer's instructions.
Lifetime :
The shelf life of CRYSTALOPOXY is 10 to 12 months in its original container. Keep containers A & B in their boxes before use.
If the product appears gelatinous, it is because it has been cold. Please place the containers in hot water for about 1 hour; it will return to its original state. The product will not lose any properties.
