The opal diffuser is specifically chosen to provide the ideal luminosity to illuminate the cabinets, without point effect. Obviously, the thicker the diffuser, the less light it lets in. For example, a transparent diffuser offers 96.5% translucency and only 20% diffusion (transparent - means the diffuser is transparent and the ribbon of light is visible). An opal diffuser, on the other hand, offers 65% translucency and 100% diffusion.
The efficiency of the opal diffuser is 50% of the emission of the original light source.
