The PWR DRIVE STR screw is designed to replace lag screws in deck framing or to reduce the need to use standard #10 deck screws which could cause structural problems. STR is designed specifically to fit the dimensions of lumber used in deck structures, allowing for maximum joining strength.
By determining all possible assemblies in a structure, using a mixture of 2 x 6 in (152 mm), 2 x 8 in (203 mm), 2 x 10 in (254 mm), 4 x 4 in (101.6 mm ) and 6 x 6 in (152 mm), any assembly combination is possible using just five different lengths. Fewer different screws are needed to cover all needs.
Each package of STR includes a handy reference of wood and screw combinations, indicating the ideal length to use. Also note that the required T-40 tip is always included in each package except bulk.
